Aadhar Bill
Launched on: January 2009
Objective:12-digit identification number that is provided to every citizen by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) as a representative of the Indian Government.
The number acts as an evidence of address and identity of people across all parts of India.
Slogan:“Mera Aadhaar, Meri Pehchaan”
Benefits: The usage of bio metrics is expected to give a unique identity to every individual. Wrong/fake beneficiaries have been a major issue with many schemes which benefits public.
A problem in reaching benefits to poor and marginalized residents is that they often lack the identification documents they need to receive State benefits, besides they offer a safe and secure platform to directly remit benefits to residents without the heavy costs associated today with benefits distribution.
Most importantly it is expected to prevent leakages in the distribution system.
